GLAAD Queer Lounge was packed for a highly-anticipated panel that addressed the importance of LGBT film activism in the wake of Proposition 8. Cultural critic B. Ruby Rich moderated the lively panel, which was a must-attend for many here at Sundance.

Rob Epstein to be Honored at IDA Awards

This Friday, Rob Epstein (The Times of Harvey Milk, The Celluloid Closet) will be presented with the Pioneer Award at the International Documentary Association’s annual awards ceremony. Epstein’s Oscar-winning Harvey Milk docu laid the groundwork for current release Milk, which incidentally goes into wider release the same day that Epstein receives his IDA honor.

Elsewhere on the IDA program is the award for Short Documentary, a competition between five films including Tongzhi in Love, the story of a group of gay friends in China struggling with tradition, family, and being true to themselves.
